With a focus on the newly released Commerce syllabus, our presentation at the Economics and Business Educators (NSW) conference enabled us to explore how FBF teaching and learning resources can be effectively incorporated within classroom Commerce programs.
While at the Australian Association of Mathematics Teachers conference, we were able to speak with hundreds of passionate and enthusiastic Maths teachers from around Australia and New Zealand about how they could utilise our free resources to enhance their mathematics lessons within a financial literacy context.
Highlights from both conferences included:
So many teachers taking the time to stop by our trade display to pass along how much they appreciate the free resources and share stories of decisions their students had made as a direct result of FBF resources being used in their classes, including opening a bank account and applying for a job.
John from Parramatta Marist High sharing his excitement about getting back to school to use the ESSI Money Game with his students.
“ESSI Money opened my eyes to how students can learn financial mathematics by playing games.” Jenny, Killara High School
“I love hard copies of resources; I’m so happy that I’ve got this to take back to school with me!” Annette, Good Counsel College Innisfail upon winning a printed copy of all OFL resources. Annette’s OFL binder provides a printed copy of all 12 OFL modules (over 600 pages of resources) that she – and her colleagues – can quickly and easily peruse and reproduce for use in the classroom.
Thank you to EBE and AAMT for inviting the Financial Basics Foundation to attend and present at these conferences. We look forward to seeing you all at the next one!
