Teacher Guide

For some students who follow the initial ‘welcome’ email upon enrolment, the initial login they create is only temporary.

Their progress is still safely saved, but to access the course materials from this point forward, they need a free Young Person account on the main FBF website.

This takes about two minutes to set up, following the instructions in the Cashed Up Learner Guide. For quick reference:

To access your course:

• You MUST create and log in to a Financial Basics Foundation Young Person account using the same email address used to enrol to access the course materials.
• Go to the Cashed Up Course Portal where your course(s) will be listed. You can find the Cashed Up Course Portal in the Hub menu and your Member Portal.
• Click on the Dashboard button for your course.
• On the next screen, click ‘Sign in using FBF’.

These steps will get students up and running with no loss of progress.

Moving forward, all students will need to use the Financial Basics Foundation website Cashed Up Course Portal to access their course(s).

To stop receiving emails every time a student submits a task:

1. Open the top navigation menu.
2. Click on ‘My Account’.
3. Uncheck the Emails box in the Profile ➡️ Contact details section.
4. Click the ‘Update account’ button.

Why are we seeing this message?

A 403 message usually appears when someone tries to log in or reset a password multiple times before completing the correct account setup steps. This often happens when students skip the instructions on how to set up & log into their user account in the Cashed Up Learner Guide:

Will the block go away?

Yes. The system automatically resets the block after one hour.
After that time, users can try again – ideally by following the steps in the Cashed Up Learner Guide.

How can we stop this from happening again?

Your school can be permanently whitelisted.
Just email info@financialbasics.org.au and include your school’s public (outward-facing) IP address.
You will be notified via email once this is added to our safelist, and your school will no longer be affected by this temporary block.

What should students do when they receive the forbidden access/blocked user message?

Stop trying to log in or reset passwords.

Wait for the automatic access reset to occur.

Because learners access Cashed Up materials by logging in to the account they created on our website, any password changes must be made by the students themselves.

Your students must create and log in to a Financial Basics Foundation Young Person account using the same email address you enrolled them with to access the course materials.

Once logged into their FBF account, they can access their courses via the Financial Basics Course Portal in the Young Person Hub menu or their member profile.

You can add/bulk add students to the your course using the Class console.

1. Download the bulk upload template.

2. Update the template with student details and save the updated file.

TO AVOID TECHNICAL ISSUES:

• DO NOT change the format of this document.
• DO NOT add or remove any fields.
• DO leave the READ ONLY FIELD BLANK.
• DO use the ‘paste as plain text’ option in your spreadsheet program (if it is available).

4. Open your Teacher Dashboard via the Course Portal.

5. Select Class console from the menu.

6. Select Add on the Learners tile.

7. Select the ‘IMPORT FILE‘ button.

8. Upload your completed version of the bulk upload template.

9. Click on the ‘SAVE‘ button.

 

 

 

 

The course catalogue, showing all educator led Financial Basics Classroom Academy courses can be found under the Educator Hub navigation menu or by clicking here. To activate a course and enrol your students, you must be logged in to your FBF Educator account.

  

All Financial Basics courses are mapped to the Australian Curriculum and have been designed from the ground up to help build financial literacy and capability.

You can download detailed curriculum mapping and comprehensive teacher support materials (including solutions) for each course by clicking on the course’s Learn More button, found in the course catalogue, and navigating to the appropriate section.

Once you have found the course you want to run with your students in the course catalogue, simply fill in the details and hit the ‘Activate’ button. To make finding your activated course offering more straightforward, be sure to use an easy-to-identify Class Name! 

As soon as you activate a course offering, it will immediately be available for you to access under the course catalogue. For ease of access and management, you can always find your active courses using the Course Management Portal link in the Educator Hub menu and the Course Management Portal button and spotlight in your FBF member portal.  

To manage your active course offerings, you will sign into the Financial Basics online course portal using your FBF login details. This is all done via the FBF website.  

From your course management portal or the course catalogue, simply press the Teacher Dashboard button for the course that you want to manage.  

Depending on your browser settings, you will either be taken straight to your course or prompted to sign in using your FBF login details. Please do so if asked.  

Once signed in, depending on your browser settings, you’ll either be taken to: 

The Class console, which is the facilitator (teacher) view of your course. 

Or 

The Course Dashboard, where you will see a list of all the classes you are the facilitator, (teacher), in charge of.  

You can access the course dashboard by selecting My Courses from the main menu on the top right of the screen.  

Facilitators can use the Class console to view learners, course time frames, check progress, mark tasks, and award badges.

A class can have as many facilitators (teachers) as you require.

We understand the importance of this feature, especially in team teaching scenarios or for schools where a central manager wants to set up classes and allocate them to classroom teachers.

To add additional teachers to a course, the teacher who created the initial registration simply needs to enter the additional teacher’s email address in the class console.

Facilitators can use bios in their profile to introduce themselves to their learners in any course.
