Financial Basics Courses
Learner Guide

Financial Basics courses are delivered using the iQualify Learning Management System. The easiest way to learn how to use it is to log in and explore, but this page has some information to get you started.

Accessing your course in iQualify

To access your course in iQualify:

  • Log in to your account on the Financial Basics Foundation website.
  • Go to Financial Basics Course Portal where your course(s) will be listed. You can find the Financial Basics Course Portal in the Young Person Hub and your Member Portal.
  • Click on the Dashboard button for your course.
  • On the next screen, click ‘Sign in using FBF’.

You will then be taken to your course page in iQualify.

Navigating iQualify

When you are not in a course, you can use the icon with your avatar on the top right of the page to navigate around iQualify. Clicking on it will show a dropdown list with:

  • My Courses – Use this to go back to your dashboard, where you will see all your courses.
  • My Account – This is where you can see your account information and opt-in to receive email alerts. You can also change your avatar icon.
  • Logout – This will log you out of iQualify, but you will still be logged into the Financial Basics Foundation website.

Help

On the right-hand side of the screen, you’ll see a magnifying glass, which is your Help tab. Click this to get help with any area of iQualify.

Click on any of the topics and you’ll be guided through how to use them.

My courses

You can see your current, upcoming or past courses from your dashboard. Use the course cards to:

  • Go to each course’s home screen.
  • Continue where you left off in your course.
  • Go to your assessments or notes.

Navigating your courses

You will go to the course overview page when you go into a course.

From here, you can start or continue the course or use the tabs down the left-hand side to see:

  • My Courses – You can navigate to your main dashboard to see all your courses.
  • Overview – This is the introduction to the course. You can also see your progress through the course and information about the course facilitator.
  • Contents– Where you can see and go to the modules in the course.
  • Downloads – This is where you can see if the course has any files (e.g. documents, videos) available to download.
  • Search – Use this to search for key phrases or content in the course.
  • Tasks – This is where you will find information about your tasks. You can see what tasks you need to do, what you have already submitted, and find your marked tasks and feedback.
  • Notes – This is where you can review any notes you have written through the course. These are private notes that only you can see.

Financial Basics Foundation provides no talk, chat or discussion channels within courses.

The bell icon on the top right of the page will show a notification:

  • When a task is marked and returned.

Notes

You can add notes next to any content in your course.

Your notes are private and just for you.

You can save your notes and refer to them easily anytime by creating unique tags.

How to add notes

Click on the sheet of paper icon next to your course content to add notes.

To make a note, click the Add button, then hit Post.

A number on the sheet of paper icon indicates that a note is added/saved next to that course content.

Finding your saved notes

You can access your notes from:

  • Your dashboard by clicking the Notes icon for each course, or
  • From your course page by clicking the menu tab on the far left side of your screen. The course menu will show the Notes icon.

Tips for using Notes

  • As you accumulate notes, use the search or tag function to find relevant notes. This is why creating appropriate tags is important.
  • Delete notes that are no longer needed by clicking the trashcan icon.
